The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) and the US-ASEAN Business Council are pleased to invite you to Myanmar’s Re-emergence: Prospects for U.S.-Myanmar Relations, to be held in the Senate Visitors Center, Room 203-02, on March 25, 2013, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. This panel discussion marks the roll-out of NBR’s Special Report, “Myanmar’s Growing Regional Role”, which assesses the current state of Myanmar and its role in Southeast Asia as 2014 ASEAN Chair.
The discussion will feature several expert panelists, including Mely Caballero Anthony (Nanyang Technological University), Priscilla Clapp (U.S. Foreign Service, retired), Catharin E. Dalpino (Foreign Service Institute), Alex Feldman (US-ASEAN Business Council), Meredith Miller (NBR), and Morten Pedersen (University of New South Wales). The panelists will discuss the emergence of Myanmar into the international economy and how the country’s political and economic reforms open a window for the development of a more robust foreign policy and enhanced engagement with ASEAN, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific.
