2021 Virtual Mission to 24th Meetings of ASEAN Tourism Ministers (M-ATM)

The US-ASEAN Business Council is registering senior-level executives for its 2021 Virtual Mission to the 24th Meetings of the ASEAN Tourism Ministers (24th M-ATM) taking place virtually Tuesday, 2 February 2021 to Friday, 5 February 2021 hosted by Cambodia. The mission will consist of an annual plenary session with the Tourism Ministers and/or National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) and will propose bilateral meetings with ASEAN Tourism Ministers, ASEAN+3 Tourism Ministers, and the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh.
The deadline for registration and submission of materials is Friday, January 29 COB (SGT).

Note: Once your registration is initiated using the link in this invitation, you have the option to cancel your registration to receive a full refund up to January 19 (Washington D.C.). After this date, your registration cannot be canceled and you will be responsible for all registration fees.
This will be the 4th consecutive mission and engagement with ASEAN Tourism Ministers and NTOs since 2018. The mission themes focus on following:

  1. ensuring tourism sector resilience in COVID-19 response and recovery strategies,
  2. accelerating digital transformation, and
  3. supporting travel bubbles and similar arrangements that encourage the return and confidence in travel.
Mission participants can propose other mission themes or discussion topics. Please contact Lilibeth Almonte-Arbez (lalmonte@usasean.org) and Steven Gunawan (sgunawan@usasean.org). Proposed themes and discussion topics will also be discussed during the pre-mission planning call.
The Virtual Mission will cover the following topics:
  • Key insights/ statistics for the inbound tourism and customer behavior trends (e.g. more domestic travel, increased adoption of digital payment options)
  • Best practices for ASEAN to consider in the negotiation and implementation of:
    • Travel bubbles
    • Statement on ASEAN Travel Corridor Arrangement
    • Declaration on ASEAN Digital Tourism
  • Tourism strategies for COVID-19 economic recovery
    • ASEAN Tourism MSMEs – how the committee could further support the government to improve livelihood for those who got affected by the pandemic
    • Domestic tourism – driving domestic demand, intra-ASEAN business travel and MICE

Additional meetings can be requested per mission delegates' interests and the officials' availability. Please note that we must have sufficient interest from mission delegates before requesting additional meetings.
