Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) recently agreed to delay implementation of the encryption licensing requirements in the Law on Network Information Security (LONIS), which were set to go into effect this month.
The Council had previously submitted comments on MIC's draft circular "Detailing the Procedures and Documents for Granting Import Licenses for Cyber Information Security (CIS) Products." While subsequent drafts eased some the onerous licensing requirements, the Council welcomes MIC's decision to postpone implementation.
The Council, along with partner associations SIA, BSA, ITI, the U.S. Chamber, and AmCham Hanoi, are pleased to host a call with Marta Prado and Sushan Demirjian from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to discuss this and other developments in Vietnam's ICT regulatory landscape.
Notes from the call will be distributed to members.
