US-ASEAN Energy Infrastructure Reverse Trade Mission and Symposium

Connecting the United States and Southeast Asia: Building a 21st Century Energy Infrastructure

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency, in collaboration with the U.S Departments of State, Commerce and Energy, are hosting two unique opportunities to introduce U.S. companies and their technologies, goods and services to leaders from the fastest growing economies in the Southeast Asia region. The U.S.-ASEAN Energy Infrastructure Symposium and Reverse Trade Mission will be held between December 7-11, 2015 to foster commercial partnerships in clean power generation and grid modernization projects in Southeast Asia.

The Symposium, scheduled for December 10-11 in San Francisco, CA, will
highlight country and regional energy infrastructure project opportunities that
can benefit from leading U.S. technologies, as well as the regulatory frameworks, standards and financing mechanisms available to support them. Prior to the Symposium, the ASEAN delegates will participate in site visits and meetings with U.S. companies, utilities, regulators and national laboratories in San Francisco, CA and Los Angeles, CA and Denver, CO. The site visits will enable the delegates to observe the design, manufacture, demonstration and operation of U.S. products and services that can help them achieve their energy development goals.

The Symposium and RTM will:

  • Highlight current and future ASEAN priority energy projects
  • Connect high-level ASEAN decision-makers with U.S. energy sector stakeholders
  • Showcase U.S. energy sector technologies and best practices
Participating ASEAN Delegates
The delegation will include representatives from energy ministries, power
utilities, generation facilities, national transmission companies and regulators
from Indonesia, Vietnam, Burma, Malaysia, the Philippines and the ASEAN
Secretariat. Importantly, ministers from at least four of the Member States are
expected to participate. Other ASEAN Member States (Brunei, Laos, Thailand,
Singapore and Cambodia) have also been invited to join both the Symposium
and reverse trade missions.

Who Should Attend
The Symposium and Reverse Trade Missions are designed to provide U.S.
companies’ access to foreign decision-makers who are responsible for expanding power generation and strengthening the transmission and distribution systems throughout Southeast Asia. Companies that attend the programs will learn about the projects, priorities and energy initiatives of the fast-growing countries throughout Southeast Asia.
