Roundtable with the Hon. Michael DeSombre, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand
Please join us for a roundtable with the Hon. Michael DeSombre, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, on Friday, January 24, from 9:00-10:00 AM EST at the offices of the US-ASEAN Business Council. The roundtable will be an excellent opportunity to raise with Amb. DeSombre the issues that U.S. companies face in Thailand prior to his taking up his new post.
Amb. DeSombre was confirmed as the next U.S. Ambassador to Thailand by the Senate on January 8. He has been a partner in the law firm of Sullivan and Cromwell since 2004, where he leads their mergers and acquisition practice in Asia. In the more than 20 years that he has lived and worked in Asia, Amb. DeSombre has honed his skills as a negotiator and has extensive experience representing U.S. and other international clients. He is active in the region’s intellectual and philanthropic communities and deeply involved in the American community in Asia. Amb. DeSombre serves on the board of the Hong Kong Forum, which seeks to promote the exchange of ideas between scholars and policymakers worldwide and to foster communication between the United States and China. In addition, as Chairman of the Board of Save the Children Hong Kong since 2015, he has substantially grown and professionalized the organization. He is a 19-year member of the American Club in Hong Kong and served on the Board of Governors for five years (the term limit).
