The US-ASEAN Business Council and our members believe that further investments in human capital development will be a key driver of ASEAN’s global competitiveness. At present, in several of ASEAN’s fastest growing sectors, the demand for talent is beginning to outpace supply and there is a growing need for further soft skills development for recent university graduates entering the work place. Furthermore, as the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) approaches, the ability of skilled labor to flow between ASEAN countries will be even more important to both foreign investors and regional corporates.
The Human Capital Development and 21st Century Skills in ASEAN forum will bring together ASEAN leaders from universities and vocational schools, human resource professionals, government officials and youth leaders to exchange perspectives with executives from multinational corporations on ways to ensure the next generation of ASEAN youth will be prepared with 21st century skills to both enter the workforce and compete for the jobs in ASEAN's high growth industries of tomorrow.
