Farewell Reception in honor of Amb. Patrick Murphy
On August 1, 2019, the U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination of W. Patrick Murphy as U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia, after a long confirmation process.
The business community with interests in Southeast Asia was the beneficiary of the extra time he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Acting Assistant Secretary in the State Department’s Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. For most of the Trump Administration’s two and half years, Patrick drove Southeast Asia Policy and for nearly 11 months of that time, he drove Asia Policy for the State Department.
Patrick’s friendship and support to the US-ASEAN Business Council is second to none, and his extensive professional history in Southeast Asia, as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’affaires in Bangkok, Acting Special Representative & Policy Coordinator for then Burma, and numerous positions in EAP, has contributed enormously to his stewardship of the bureau since 2016 and his deep appreciation for the potential of ASEAN.
This event is by invitation only.
