Launched in November 2012, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is a 16-party Agreement involving the 10 ASEAN Member States and its six FTA partners – Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand. Together, RCEP countries comprise 45% of the world’s population, 40% of global trade flows, and 30% of global GDP. Singapore recently hosted the 6th RCEP Ministerial Meeting from 30 to 31 August 2018, where negotiations have reached a “critical stage”, and substantial conclusion may finally be coming into view.
Join us as Dr Deborah Elms, Vice Chair of the Asia Business Trade Association (ABTA), provides an update on the RCEP negotiations, timelines and next steps, and how businesses can start to prepare themselves to take advantage of this Agreement.
The ABTA is a business association based in Singapore dedicated to the promotion of regional trade issues in cooperation with governments. The Association represents companies in Asia to support improved cross-border trade and regulatory policies.
About the Speaker: Dr. Deborah Elmsis the Vice Chair of the ABTA. She is also the Founder and Executive Director of the Asian Trade Centre (ATC), Co-Chair of the Trade Policy Committee of the Global Trade Professionals Alliance (GTPA), and also a senior fellow in the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Trade Academy.
