The US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) will hold the inaugural AEM-ADGMIN Digital Economy Roadshow to the United States from Monday, March 16, to Friday, March 20, and will visit the cities of San Diego and San Francisco in California.
Background:
Two years ago at the 50th ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) Meeting in Singapore and the 18th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers (TELMIN) Meeting in Ubud, Indonesia, US-ABC proposed hosting a roadshow to highlight the growing overlap between the traditional economy and the emerging digital economy. Specifically, the roadshow will focus on the importance of devising digital and economic policies that mutually reinforce each other to improve the resilience and sustainability of the economy, improve the overall business environment, and increase foreign direct investment (FDI). This will be done by providing roadshow participants with a unique opportunity to see and discuss the emerging technologies that are at the forefront of Industry 4.0 with the very companies that are leading the way on this innovative and transformational technological trend.
The format of the roadshow will be the same as the previous three AEM roadshows that US-ABC has organized. The only difference is the inclusion of the ASEAN Digital Ministers (ADGMIN). US-ABC has invited all 10 ASEAN Economic Ministers, all 10 ADGMIN, and the ASEAN Secretary-General to participate in the roadshow.
Proposed Activities:
US-ABC proposes that this combined AEM-ADGMIN Roadshow feature two stops at cities in the United States: San Diego and San Francisco, CA. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss current digital trends with cutting-edge U.S. technology companies, as well as present an up-to-date assessment of the opportunities for business and investment in ASEAN. In addition to meeting with U.S. business leaders, US-ABC proposes that the delegation engage state and local government officials, universities and media in both cities.
