The Council is pleased to invite you to attend the 3rd 2019 ASEAN-US Digital Policy Consultative Forum (“DPCF”), to be held on Friday, August 23rd from 12:30-2:00 PM in the Avani+ Riverside Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 3rd 2019 DPCF will be held alongside the 2nd TELSOM-ATRC Leaders' Retreat in Bangkok, Thailand, which takes place August 19-23, 2019. This is a continuation of the ASEAN-US Digital Policy Consultative Forum, which was first launched in 2018, and follows the 2nd 2019 DPCF held on May 6 in Yangon, Myanmar. It will be the final of a year-long, three-part series held alongside each of the three TELSOM-ATRC meetings of 2019. The DPCF across 2019 has focused on strengthening digital data governance in ASEAN.
The 3rd 2019 DPCF will serve as a platform for policy makers and stakeholders to exchange views on how to enable ASEAN to become a global leader in digital data governance, particularly by establishing and utilizing interoperable best practices, frameworks and standards for digital data governance. It will focus on challenges to developing such frameworks, particularly at the regional level. It will also focus on policy approaches and solutions on which the public and private sector can collaborate to address these challenges and establish ASEAN as a global leader in digital data governance. During this DPCF, the Council will look to launch its policy paper "Key Elements for a Data Driven Economy," developed by the ICT Committee's Data Governance Sub-Committee, as a potential solution to enabling ASEAN to establish strong regional data governance frameworks.
Around 40 participants from ASEAN TELSOM – ATRC, U.S. private sectors and subject matters experts such as academic, think-tanks, trade associations, and others are expected to attend the Forum.
