2021 Virtual Business Mission to the 7th AFMGM
The US-ASEAN Business Council is now registering senior-level executives for its 2021 Virtual Business Mission to the 7th ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting (AFMGM) from March 25 - April 9, 2021.
The AFMGM will be hosted virtually by Brunei Darussalam. Alongside our annual plenary session, the mission will consist of proposed bilateral meetings with each of the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors.
The Virtual Meeting will cover the following topics:
- Presentation on the AFMGM White Papers:
- Digital Trade Agreements
- Digital Identity
- Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC)
- Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Finance
- Financial Inclusion
- Insurance as an Enabler of Digital Economy
- Note: Themes of the white papers will be further discussed with members during the planning calls
- Discussion may also focus on the following regional and national advocacy issues:
- Implications of a Digital Economy
- Financial Inclusion for Economic Development
- Cybersecurity
- Sustainable (ESG) Finance
- Disaster Resilience and Infrastructure Finance
- Digital Issues (e.g. Open Banking, Virtual Banking, Digital ID and AI)
The following meetings will be proposed. Given the possible conflicts in the proposed meetings, please indicate the importance of these meetings in the Business Mission Manager.
- Plenary session with the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors on March 30, 2021
- Bilateral meetings with ASEAN Finance Ministers
- Bilateral meetings with ASEAN Central Bank Governors
- Bilateral meetings with the ASEAN Secretariat, U.S. Treasury delegation and other delegations of interest joining the AFMGM

Please note that the early bird deadline for registration and delegate name submission is on Thursday, March 11 2021. We appreciate your prompt attention to this. There is a $500 fee for the registration of each additional representative beyond the first two. This is special pricing for these specific engagements given COVID-19 development. Payment can be made by check, wire transfer or credit card. An invoice will be issued upon registration.
Virtual mission fees cover expenses for program preparation and execution, overhead costs for Council staff and hired service vendors (e.g. translators).
Note: Once your registration is initiated, you have the option to cancel your registration and receive a full refund up to Thursday, March 11 (SGT). After March 11, your registration cannot be canceled and you will be responsible for all registration fees.
