2020 Virtual Business Mission to the 52nd ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) Meeting

The US-ASEAN Business Council is now registering senior executives for its Virtual Business Mission to the 52nd ASEAN Economic Ministers' (AEM) Meeting. The mission will take place virtually from Monday, August 24, to Friday, September 11, and will consist of a plenary session with all AEMs, and will propose bilateral meetings with each ASEAN Economic Ministers, U.S. Government officials from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and the U.S. Mission to ASEAN, and ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
 
This is the 21st consecutive mission and engagement with the ASEAN Economic Ministers. The mission themes focus on the impact of COVID-19 to regional integration and economic recovery in the ASEAN region. The mission constitutes a key part of our yearly engagement with ASEAN to show commitment from the Council to help achieve the realization of ASEAN Single Market and driving economic integration amidst the COVID-19. This meeting will be a prime opportunity for members to share concern and offer a collaborative solution for the AEM.

The deadline for registration and submission of materials is Wednesday, August 19 COB (SGT).

The Virtual Meeting will cover the following topics:

  1. ASEAN COVID-19 Economic Recovery
  2. US-ASEAN Economic Cooperation discussion with USG and ASEAN Governments
  3. Regional Trade Agreements (RCEP/CP-TPP)
  4. ASEAN E-Commerce Development, including the Launch of US-ABC E-Commerce Report
  5. ASEAN Standard Discussion
  6. US-ASEAN Business Alliance for Competitive SMEs
  7. US-ASEAN Internship Program
 
Mission participants can propose other mission themes or discussion topics. To do so, please contact Mario Masaya (mmasaya@usasean.org) and Hai Pham (hpham@usasean.org). Proposed themes and discussion topics will also be discussed during the pre-mission planning call.
 
Virtual Meeting Benefits:
 
  1. Closed-door briefing/conversations with the ASEAN Economic Ministers.
  2. Company profile and logos in an e-delegation package for distribution to the officials.
  3. Opportunities for member companies to share their business priorities and COVID-19 company practices, offer thought leadership on various policy issues, and present initiatives for collaboration.
  4. Additional e-materials for distribution to the officials before, during and after the virtual meeting.
 
To ensure our delegation is best represented as a committed partner for the ASEAN Economic Ministers, priority speaking roles will be given to companies registering high-level executives in the meeting.

Additional meetings can be requested per mission delegates' interests and the officials' availability. Please note that we must have sufficient interest from mission delegates before requesting additional meetings.

US$2,250 for early bird registrations received BEFORE August 19 
US$2,750 for registrations received AFTER August 19
These costs cover up to two representatives.
 
Please note that the early bird deadline for registration and delegate name submission is on Wednesday, August 19. We appreciate your prompt attention to this. There is an additional $300 fee for the registration of each additional representative beyond the first two. This is special pricing for these specific engagements given COVID-19 development. Payment can be made by check, wire transfer or credit card. An invoice will be issued upon registration.
 
Virtual mission fees cover expenses for program preparation and execution, overhead costs for Council staff and hired service vendors (e.g. translators).


Note: Once your registration is initiated, you have the option to cancel your registration and receive a full refund up to Wednesday, August 19 COB (SGT). After August 19, your registration cannot be canceled, and you will be responsible for all registration fees.
