SUMMARY:Workshop: Forging an Effective Partnership to Tackle Illicit Trade & Counterfeits with the ASEAN Customs Enforcement and Compliance Working Group
DESCRIPTION:Global supply chains are becoming more complex and the incidence of illicit trade and counterfeit goods is increasing at both physical and online retail outlets and across product categories\, circumventing customs controls and law enforcement agencies. As gatekeepers of national borders and through partnerships that extend beyond borders\, customs agencies play a critical role in protecting against illicit trade and counterfeit goods from entering countries and causing harm to economies and consumers.\n\n \n\nTo effectively deal with this challenge\, close private-public collaboration between governments and the private sector is essential to enhance supply chain security\, enforce intellectual property rights\, protect brands\, promote the use of technology\, information sharing and capacity building programs to eliminate illicit trade and counterfeit goods.\n\n\n\nPlease join the Council and its Customs & Trade Facilitation Committee for a workshop with the ASEAN Customs Enforcement and Compliance Working Group (CECWG) to discuss recent case studies and improving public-private cooperation on anti-illicit trade and anti-counterfeiting efforts.\n\n\n\nPlease contact Lucius Lee at llee@usasean.org for more information on how you can participate.
