DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a roundtable with the Hon. Peter Haymond\, U.S. Ambassador-Designate to Laos\, on Tuesday\, January 14\, from 4:00-5:00 PM EST at the offices of the US-ASEAN Business Council. The roundtable will be an excellent opportunity to raise with Ambassador-Designate Haymond the issues that U.S. companies face in Laos prior to his taking up his new post within the next several weeks. \n\n\n\nAmbassador-Designate Haymond has extensive experience in Southeast Asia and the broader Asia-Pacific. Before being appointed Ambassador-Designate to Laos\, he was posted at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok\, Thailand\, where he served as Charge d'Affaires\, a.i.\, from October 2018 to August 2019. He also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok since July 2016. Prior to that Ambassador-Designate Haymond was Director of the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs in the State Department's Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. He also was Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu\, China and Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Vientiane\, Laos. Earlier in his career\, he served as an economic officer at the U.S. Embassy in China\, a narcotics affairs officer at the U.S. Embassy in Laos\, and a consular officer in Thailand and Korea.
