SUMMARY:APEC Energy Ministers Meeting Conference Call
DESCRIPTION:The APEC Energy Ministers will meet in Beijing\, September 2-3. China has indicated an openness to having an industry event alongside the ministerial\, possibly a lunch with ministers\, but we are still waiting for further details. Several U.S. APEC Business Coalition members have expressed an interest in having the Coalition coordinate bilateral meetings with key APEC Energy Ministers and senior officials on the margins of the ministerial meeting.\n\n\n\nAt this time we would like to invite U.S. APEC Business Coalition members to participate in a call to discuss their interest in bilateral meetings and to identify potential policy objectives for the bilaterals. Phyllis Yoshida\, Deputy Assistant Secretary\, at the U.S. Department of Energy\, and Lead Shepard for APEC's Energy Working Group\, will also join the call to provide her insights into China's objectives for the EMM. Jim Steele\, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs U.S. Department of State will also participate.
