SUMMARY:3rd International Conference on Vietnam-INGO partnership
DESCRIPTION:The US-ASEAN Business Council is helping the National Commission for International Non-Governmental Organizations (COMINGO) to organize the 3rd International Conference on Vietnam-INGO partnership in Hanoi on November 28 29\, 2013. The government of Vietnam attaches great importance to the role of foreign NGOs in the country's socio-economic development. The expertise and resources brought to Vietnam by these organizations over the past several decades have benefited countless numbers of people from all walks of life\, particularly the disadvantaged groups. Many seminars have been organized in Vietnam to highlight the contributions of these NGOs. \n\n \n\nHowever\, what is conspicuously missing from the picture is the role of corporate social responsibilities (CSR) programs. Many people in Vietnam do not know that much of NGOs' resources come from corporate sponsorship and donations. Without corporate resources\, many NGOs will not be able to even exist.\n\n \n\nTherefore\, the Council is working with COMINGO to highlight the role of corporate CSR programs\, including funding for NGOs\, in the 3rd International Conference on Vietnam-INGO partnership in Hanoi later this month. \n\n \n\nThe conference will be attended by around 800 people including central and provincial leaders of Vietnam\, leaders of Ministries and professional associations of Vietnam\, representatives from INGOs\, international organizations in Vietnam\, foreign development agencies and embassies to Hanoi\, some American and European research centers\, think-tanks\, and ASEAN secretariat. The attendants will have opportunities to discuss various topics among the top priorities of Vietnam in its newly launched National Program for INGO aid mobilization.
