Following the country's first general election in eight years\, the Mission will be companies' first chance to engage with the brand-new Government only one month after the new Cabinet will have officially assumed duties. While under the leadership of recently re-elected Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha\, the new Government is made up of Ministers from his Palang Pracharath Party and key coalition parties\, such as the Democrats and Bhumjaithai Parties. The coalition Government will be eager to follow up on their various campaign promises and implement their ambitious policy agenda\, including sweeping economic reforms across all sectors. The new Cabinet will be seeking input from U.S. industry on how this planned policy agenda will impact the business environment\, as increasing investment\, growth and innovation in Thailand's economy were key platforms across all parties in the general elections.\n\n \n\nIn addition\, Thailand is now in the second half of its 2019 ASEAN Chairmanship Year. The Government\, under the leadership of the new Minister for Foreign Affairs\, will also be eager to work towards its many goals for the Chairmanship (see more information here)\, after the first half of 2019 was taken up by domestic political developments. The Government recently wrapped up the first ASEAN Summit (from June 22-23) and will be looking to build upon the agenda of this first key engagement to ensure the second summit (planned for November) will positively tie up the Chairmanship.\n\n \n\nThe Council suggests that the following overarching themes can be used to frame industry and company-specific messages and/or policy advocacy reform priorities leading up to the mission and in formulating post-mission follow-up efforts. \n\n	Engage with the new Government\, gain insight into their policy priorities\, and establish the private sector as a dedicated partner in achieving these priorities. \n	\n Position the private sector as a key partner to the new Government in implementing their economic policy agenda\, and advocate for policies that support continued economic growth\, investment and innovation and advance Thailand out of the middle-income trap.\n	\n	\n	Identify opportunities for collaboration and support of the Government's Digital Economy agenda\n	\n Supporting the implementation of the recently passed "digital bills\," continue to engage on "Thailand 4.0" and related comprehensive Digital Economy strategies\, to advocate for innovation-minded laws and regulations.\n	\n	\n	Continue to support Thailand in the final half of their 2019 ASEAN Chairmanship Year and identify opportunities for collaboration and support \n	\n Such as the Indo-Pacific Business Forum\, to ensure they are able to fulfill their agenda for the Chairmanship. \n	\n	\n	Support capacity building efforts\, including human resource development\, CSR\, and SME training.\n\nProposed Meetings:\n\n\n	Prime Minister and Minister of Defense\n	Deputy Prime Minister in Charge of Economy\n	Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives\n	Minister of Commerce\n	Minister of Digital Economy and Society\n	Minister of Energy\n	Minister of Foreign Affairs\n	Minister of Finance\n	Minister of Industry\n	Minister of Public Health\n	Minister of Tourism and Sports\n	Governor of the Bank of Thailand\n	Charge d'affaires\, U.S. Embassy Bangkok\n\nMeetings with other Ministries can be added according to member interest and the officials' availability.\n\n \n\nRegistration:\n\n\n\nAll application materials (including registration form\, delegate bios\, company profile\, logo and company issues) should be submitted using the link below.\n\n \n\nClick here to register\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nCSR Materials:\n\n \n\nIf your company has a CSR program in Thailand you wish to highlight for our annual CSR Thailand report\, please contact Ella Duangkaew (eduangkaew@usasean.org) for the template.
