SUMMARY:2019 Business Mission to the ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM)
DESCRIPTION:The US-ASEAN Business Council is now registering senior-level executives for its Business Mission to the 37th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) in Bangkok\, Thailand. The mission will take place Tuesday\, September 3\, to Thursday\, September 5\, and will consist of bilateral meetings with ASEAN Energy Ministers and AMEM Dialogue Partners. \n\n\n\nPlease plan to arrive by the afternoon on Monday\, September 2\, to accommodate a pre-mission briefing that evening and a potential early start on Tuesday\, September 3. The mission will end by the evening of Thursday\, September 5.\n\n\n\nThe deadline for registration and submission of materials is Tuesday\, August 20.\n\n\n\nMission Meetings:  \n\n \n\nThe following meetings have been proposed:\n\n	Ministry of Energy\, Manpower\, and Industry (MEMI) - Brunei Darussalam\n	Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) - Cambodia\n	Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) - Indonesia\n	Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) - Lao PDR\n	Ministry of Energy\, Science\, Technology\, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) - Malaysia\n	Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) - Myanmar\n	Department of Energy (DOE) - Philippines\n	Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) - Singapore\n	Ministry of Energy (MOE) - Thailand\n	Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) - Vietnam\n	ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE)\n	Heads of ASEAN Power Utilities/Authorities (HAPUA)\n	ASEAN Secretariat\n	U.S. Government Delegation to AMEM\n	ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE)\n	International Energy Agency (IEA)\n\nAdditional meetings can be requested per mission delegates' interests and the officials' availability. Please note that we must have sufficient interest from mission delegates before requesting additional meetings.\n\n\n\nMission Themes:\n\n\n\nWe propose that the mission themes and discussion topics reflect the Energy Committee's 2019 Work Plan and are in line with the broad goals of the U.S. Government's (USG) Asia EDGE (Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy) initiative. We propose the following themes:\n\n\n	Ensure a free\, fair\, and level playing field in ASEAN's energy sector by strengthening relationships with key energy sector stakeholders.\n\n	\n		Gain more in-depth\, timely insight on current and future policies and priorities\;\n		Put U.S. companies in better position to bid on and win tenders\;\n		Continue to advocate for\n		\n			Improving regulatory transparency\;\n			Ensuring contract sanctity\;\n			Promoting greater adherence to market-based policies\;\n			Role of LNG in ensuring sustainable energy solutions for ASEAN countries.\n		\n		\n	\n	\n	Position the Energy Committee as a key source of energy sector insight and best practices for ASEAN Energy Ministries and the USG when developing energy policy.\n	In line with the broad goals of the Asia EDGE initiative\, the Energy Committee supports efforts to:\n	\n		Strengthen the energy security of ASEAN countries\; \n		Create open\, efficient\, rules-based\, and transparent energy markets\;\n		Bolster U.S. energy resource and technology exports and investment in Southeast Asia\; \n		Expand access to affordable\, reliable energy that can help reduce poverty\, foster economic growth\, and promote prosperity in Southeast Asia.\n	\n	\n\nMission participants can propose other broad mission themes or discussion topics.
